International Day of Action! Localize
the Movement for Global Justice! september 26, 2000
Sample Local Organizing Plan
August 28 - September 4
Place letters to editor in local papers.
Appoint coalition turnout committee.
Contact all coalition members to get: volunteers & turnout
commitments for S 26.
Work on action plan (ID possible targets and tactics). Of course
what you choose to do will greatly influence who wants to be part
of it. So, be flexible about the type of actions you can use to
welcome new people (Are you doing an action plus a public education
event before it to build the action? Maybe you want to do an action
plus a prayer vigil the night before? Are you doing one huge mobilization?)
Continue to expand list of potential allies and even co-sponsors.
September 4
- September 11
Finalize target and tactics ö consider mobilization capacity
and what type of event best suits your ability to reach out to
new organizations.
Do turnout mailing with a local flyer targeting coalition members,
allies, progressive clergy, activist base, and globalization activists.
Set-up phone bank.
Organize logistics (permits, bullhorns, banners, police plan,
leaflets, transportation, etc.)
September 11- September 18
Finalize tactics (considering expected numbers).
Do final mailing to complete list.

Lending.
